  • Overview

Sony Music Entertainment is a global recorded music company with a roster of current artists that includes a broad array of both local artists and international superstars, as well as a vast catalog that comprises some of the most important recordings in history. Sony Music Entertainment is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Corporation of America.

Sony Music is committed to providing equal employment opportunity for all persons regardless of age, disability, national origin, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, veteran or military status, genetic information or any other status protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.

Sony Music requires a meticulous and trustworthy person to take on the role of Media Library Archives Coordinator. The position will involve cataloguing and preservation of physical and digital assets, and generation and maintenance of related metadata.  Older classical and popular recordings will be likely areas of emphasis.

    • Required skills are diligence, trustworthiness, a meticulous eye for detail, and a baseline interest in and awareness of historic audio and audiovisual recording techniques

    • Ability to type briskly and accurately
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel will be needed
    • Prior experience with inventory database tools is a plus
    • Prior classical music knowledge is not necessary but this role will give significant support to Sony’s Masterworks classical label, so a willingness to gain fluency in discussing that repertoire is key
    • Attention to detail with the ability to consistently detect the sometimes subtle cues that help identify the purpose and content of a given archival media asset
    • The ability to lift packed boxes weighing in excess of thirty pounds is not a requirement, but a substantial amount of lifting, packing, and shelving are a part of the department’s overall mission
