  • Overview

    This position will be primarily responsible for providing technical and project management leadership for the digital systems order management suite of applications at Sony Music Entertainment within the Global IS&T department. In this capacity, the individual will provide continuous improvements to the teams’ agile practices and protocols to improve software development delivery capabilities. These systems are a critical component of the Sony Music’s global digital supply chain, both determining and tracking the delivery of catalog and new release products to our Digital Service Providers (DSP) on worldwide basis. This individual will work directly with the Digital Supply Chain Account Management team and ensure business requirements are addressed in a timely basis, incremental enhancements are successfully delivered, and both upstream and downstream dependencies are coordinated with other IT teams and other stakeholders.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the productivity of the digital supply chain systems and development in an agile environment and leading scrum sessions with multiple stakeholders
    • Ability to become a Subject Matter Expert for the Digital Supply Chain including maintaining strong understanding of upstream and downstream systems to more quickly facilitate technical solution that in particular involve cross-system enhancements
    • Ensure the team is evaluating and incorporating new technologies where it makes sense and is part of the strategic IS&T goals.
    • Ownership and accountability of the applications’ performance
    • Own the product(s) roadmap:
      • Prioritize based on feedback from the business
      • Create product backlog items (Jira based workflow/tracking of enhancements)
      • Work with product management team, business and engineering to have user stories and technical stories created
      • Review stories for completeness
    • Work directly with leadership and business members to ensure that engineering goals align to overall company goals
    • Ensure open and regular communication between the business and the engineering team
    • Serve as scrum master and product manager for the scrum teams
      • Write user stories as part of the overall product management team
      • Facilitate story estimation and backlog grooming
      • Sprint Planning
      • Sprint Review (with business owners)
    • Assist in solving technical problems and designing solutions
    • Participate in DDEX activities
      • Participate in workgroup conference and email exchanges and plenary
      • Create upgrade path for new features in current spec and for upgrading to new versions
    • Oversee the recruitment and onboarding process for new staff, onshore and offshore consultants

    Qualifications

    • Experience in Project Management in an agile environment with strong communication skills across multiple teams and discussing projects/requirements at both a high level and at a more granular operational & technical level (i.e., DDEX ERN implementation and partner integration)
    • Extremely entrepreneurial minded and cognizant of all the competitive landscape within the media space and disruption
    • Solution oriented with a hunger for challenges, track record for delivering well thought through capability in aggressive schedules
    • Ability to problem solve on both business needs and technical implementation
    • Must have a discerning eye for workflow and process improvements.  Ability to notice deficiencies in business or technical process and normalize rules, formulate path(s) of correction (i.e., UGC in DRA needs to be upstreamed - expand override and centrally administered by AM)
    • Expert level of experience and knowledgeable in Scrum in particular and other Agile practices (i.e., transformation in progress with the teams, next steps would involve adopting of Extreme Programming practices: pair programming techniques, test driven development to create better balance and efficiency within the teams)
    • Must be extremely detail oriented
    • Working knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft suite
    • General familiarity with current and future tech stacks -  Oracle, MySQL, Aurora Postgres, General SQL, ExtJS, ReactJS, Java, Cloud Environments (AWS/Azure/Google)
    • In depth understanding and experience with at least one programming language
    • Commitment to continuous improvement of development processes and technology stack
    • 10+ Years of Technology / Engineering experience where at least half of that would have been in operating within an agile environment
    • Bachelors in STEM with solid understanding of Software Engineering practices
